Application for ink city?!

Under the cut, assuming it works.

Mun Name: Eroe

Contact Info: eroeoscuro
Other Characters: None!

Name: Blair (male protagonist)
From: Pokemon BW!
Appearance: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Hilbert . The changes to Blair's appearance (due to AU) is that his skin is a touch darker, his eyes are dark blue, and he has some faint scarring in places. Also, his right hand has an ugly injury at the time I'm taking him from, so it's bandaged up.
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Personality: Blair doesn't like being around strangers. It feels invasive to have them look at him, acknowledge him, or try to get to know him. He'd much rather be a face in the crowd, rather than deal with someone he doesn't like. Because of this, he's almost painfully shy in public. He'll dodge personal attention, hide behind someone else if possible, and respond to direct questions with minimal sentences. Sometimes, he'll carry on conversations that consist entirely of "yes" or "no", even when he's working together with someone else. He wears concealing clothes and prefers to listen rather than speak. He won't act out in any way in public if possible, since he hates the attention. However, it's very hard for him to come to especially dislike someone. There really isn't anyone who receives especially BAD treatment from him, as he just acts uniformly unfriendly and shy towards anyone who hasn't made a positive impression on him. Also, he's a bit better about indirect attention. It doesn't matter if someone sees him on TV or posting on the internet nearly as much, though he's still not going to be too receptive to direct contact (like, say, someone sending him a private message).

On the other hand, however, when he's around people he likes, Blair is practically a different person. He's happy, friendly, doesn't care about personal space, and always wants to play. It doesn't take much for him to come to like someone. A single shared or positive (in his eyes) trait or favor given is quite enough. It doesn't really matter if they actually get along or anything. As he comes to care more about a person, he'll become concerned about their well-being, to the point of eventually getting a bit fussy or protective. Before that, though, even if he's friendly, he might not be too interested in going out of his way to try and make them happy. And there are some things he'd just rather people didn't touch on, no matter how close he is to them.

Blair is, in general, a laid-back person who works at his own pace. He doesn't feel pressured by society's norms or expectations, and lives how he likes. You won't find him disliking someone for acting strange or seeking out a steady career when he doesn't need one. He's satisfied with the bare necessities, and only works for more when he feels like it. This kid can be pretty whimsical, camping out in the woods for a week and living on berries before suddenly going and working hard to save up money for a fancy new outfit. He doesn't have many major hobbies outside of Pokemon, because he instead picks something up for a short time, burns himself out on it, and moves on. If he's not enjoying life, there's not much point to it. So, essentially, he almost lives life like he's playing a game.

Blair is a bit simple. It shows in how easy it is for him to come to like someone, and in how he lives. It's easy to entertain or please him, and he doesn't care how evil someone is to everyone else so long as he enjoys being around them. He's the sort to enjoy children's games just as much (if not moreso) as everything else.

Blair has a temper, even if it's hard to trigger. He doesn't really care about minor hurts, emotional or physical, and insults just kind of go over his head most of the time. In fact, he's almost insensitive when it comes to people's problems sometimes, since he can't see why everyone can't just heal and move on. However, when he snaps, he snaps <i>hard</i>. Harming something he feels protective over without consent (say, hurting one of his Pokemon outside of battles, or attacking a close friend who didn't agree to a fight) is one way to make him angry. Forcing him to do something that damages his strange brand of pride is another. He's not above returning violence with violence. It's extremely unusual for him to raise his voice, but it can be difficult to approach him when he's all "snappish", which is likely to last for a while.

Blair has some kind of pride, though it's not the usual kind. He doesn't care much about being seen or treated badly in most cases, and he's not exactly one to care about some stranger's opinion of him so long as they leave him alone. But he refuses to break promises or forget his debts to others, and he won't appreciate having his privacy invaded by a stranger. Nor will he want to invade a stranger's privacy. Genuinely doubting his feelings towards things after getting to know him is another thing he can't stand having done to him, even if he wouldn't care about someone who doesn't know him well making the same mistake.

Blair is neutral on a lot of things. If someone wants to do something unusual, they can go for it. If someone wants to be evil, it's none of his business unless they come to bother him. Major political or moral issues generally just go over his head, because he isn't interested. If they don't affect him directly (and sometimes even if they do), he doesn't care much. He doesn't really judge people based on black and white standards. It's hard to get him to treat someone he doesn't know well differently just because they act crazy, are a different gender, are old, are foreign, or whatever. He might become more interested if that person is actually close to him, however. Just because they're involved in it.

Blair is eccentric, obviously. One of the major reasons he's considered difficult to defeat back home is simply that his thought patterns make such little sense to other people that they can't even begin to come up with a counter-strategy against him. He thinks logically, but his logic tends to only qualifies as logic on another planet, so his actions can sometimes seem pretty random. He's had a minimal education and doesn't know how to deal with other people too well, since he's more used to Pokemon.

Blair is curious... if he's bored, or if it's about something he likes. While he may not care much about what other people do normally, he'll be interested if it's a person he considers a friend. If a meteor hits the ground outside, he'll either not care (because he's busy with this new game here, why should he?) or hop right out the window to go see what's up, since he wasn't doing anything better anyway. Show him a cool dragon or a bunch of fancy, flashy colors and he's <i>there</i>. That being said, he can get a little reckless (you kind of have to be, to run out into areas full of dangerous cliffs and monsters), but he has some basic self-preservation. Pain is not nice, and he'll avoid things that are obviously more hazardous than fun. Assuming he realizes the danger, of course.

Blair's tastes tend to lean towards the flashy, bright, or cutesy. His fashion sense is pretty terrible and he's likely to appreciate more ridiculous things just because they've got a lot of pretty colors. If there's an adorable normal type Pokemon hanging around or a bird with rainbow feathers, you bet he'll want to pet it.

Blair is pretty oblivious to romance and whatnot. It's not something he's really thought much about, and he doesn't have any particular preferences or plans for the future yet.
Backstory: Blair was born in Iccirus City, to a pair of trainer parents who got bored of settling down as soon as he was a few years old. They started traveling again, sometimes with him, more often without. His mentors and guardians were a long string of nannies, teachers, caretakers, neighbors, and other people who only stayed in his life for short periods of time. Some of them he was close to, others not so much, but none of them made enough of an impact for him to remember them too well in the current day. He didn't end up being a very social child, but at least he could function well enough. His parents stopped coming back after a while, only sending money back every so often, and he never cared to contact them.

More importantly than those people, however, were the Pokemon in his life. It's not a stretch to say he was half raised by the Druddigon and Mienfoo he still lives with to this day. The former was left at home by his parents (who had already bred several better ones and were just going to release it anyway), and the latter simply wandered in from the tall grass near town and made itself at home one day. They made sure he didn't get himself killed and played with him, making themselves much better friends to him than any of the humans in his life. He came to prefer hanging out with them than trying to interact with the "strangers" outside his family. It's not like any of them were cute or cool like those two, anyway.

Blair became an official trainer at the youngest age possible, because he was bored of battling only local trainers who used almost exclusively ice types. And anyway, he wanted to try exploring the world around him, since he had heard about all kinds of neat places and, more importantly, beautiful dragons from the picture books he grew up on. He liked dragons a lot, influenced by his home town's legends as well as his red-faced companion.

Traveling was fun. He got to be a face in the crowd that no one knew, and he got to battle strong people and meet pretty Pokemon he'd never seen before. Blair didn't really care to take the league challenge, though, and didn't collect badges. He wasn't interested in gyms, either... until he met a certain little lady in Opelucid and thought she was the greatest thing ever. Iris liked dragons, could keep up in games that made other kids scared, and could beat most trainers into the ground like it was nothing. Up until that point, Blair had barely made ends come together by fighting odd trainers (and never exchanging a single word with them). He didn't mind living off of almost nothing, and he didn't really want to become the strongest trainer out there. But he liked battling with the people in Iris's gym and he enjoyed training. After an incident where he slipped into the Opelucid gym one time too many to play with Iris and got mistaken for a gym trainer, he was finally offered an official position there, which he agreed to. It was fun, and the leaders were out often enough for him to continue traveling around sometimes. He started raising more Pokemon, for his own interests and for the Gym, and even traded for a few foreign monsters. This included his Altaria, who quickly became his best poke-friend ever.

Which is why Blair was spending most of his time in Opelucid city when a certain pair of heroes passed through.

Blair liked them both, the girl with endless potential and the boy who preferred the company of Pokemon over people. He didn't understand why the girl bothered to stop Team Plasma just because they were there, and he couldn't help but laugh when he was told his Pokemon would be happier "free". But they were both strong, both cute, both cool, and whether they felt the same or not, he considered them friends. Unfortunately, while he would've liked to help them get what they want, there was the small issue of them being on exactly opposite sides. If he tried to help one, it would be like betraying the other. So Blair decided to remain neutral.

Naturally, Blair had no place in the climax of the story, and only heard later that the boy had left for other regions while the girl went on to become Unova's young champion. He stayed in contact with the girl, who visited every so often. Blair didn't really regret his choices, even if it meant he didn't make anything change. But, it still made him a little sad. He thinks it would've been nice if all three of them could have been friends together.

It was some time after that that he met Kyurem.

The old dragon was feared by the local people, rather than revered. It deserved its reputation, since it was incredibly powerful and made no effort to not hurt Blair when he battled it. The boy did, in fact, get hurt, but he didn't hold it against the dragon. Being Blair, if anything he just thought the legendary Pokemon was, if you'll pardon the horrible pun, cool. He wanted to know who the dragon was, why it was there, why it acted the way it did. So he just bandaged up the hand that wouldn't regain its feeling for a long time and brought his new friend home to Opelucid without a word of explanation to the people back home.

Currently, Blair's still living in Opelucid, though he occasionally travels around with Kyurem to find more out about it. All in all, Blair's life hasn't been too eventful, considering that he's a boy with a legendary Pokemon who could've been a hero. Then again, he's only 14, so he's got an entire life full of craziness yet to enjoy.
Moral Standing: Neutral. Blair will help people with obvious problems (even strangers) simply because it's a matter of course where he comes from, not because he feels any particular need to be good or to suck up to them. He's also not going to go out of his way to do anything bad when there's not a good reason for him to bother. But, his morals can be pretty flexible, so he can do things that are considered "good" or "bad" depending on each individual situation.
Dreams: Blair doesn't have much in the way of hopes and dreams compared to most kids. He just wants to keep living as he is, with his friends nearby and plenty of fun stuff to do. Getting stronger as a trainer is great, and he works on that as a goal just to have one, but he isn't obsessed with the concept of strength and doesn't want to be the best or anything. Making more friends who are cool would also be nice. He also wants to find out more about Kyurem, and has been devoting his limited brainpower to studying old Unova legends to that end.
Fears: Death. It's the ultimate fear most creatures have, especially simpler things. Blair will do a lot to not get himself or his friends killed, like the majority of people out there. He's not so afraid of hurt if he has a reason to get hurt, but he doesn't enjoy pain and would prefer to avoid it. Fire makes him skittish, since it's hot and nasty and devours things too quickly.
Extra: He'll be bringing in a six Pokemon party with him.
Character Location: The Opelucid Gym, if that's alright! http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Opelucid_Gym It's a building full of moving dragon statues that form a sort of maze. Blair works there.
